Tzitzis Point to Ponder

Why is it that of all the Mitzvos(that i can think of), only Tzitzis has two different ways to mekaim it- Talis gadol and katan? Why is a talis gadol only worn during Teffilah and- according to many minhogim- only after marriage?

When Avrohom defeated a group of armies that had conquered Sodom, and had taken his nephew Lot captive, the king of Sodom offered Avrohom all the recovered property as his reward. Abraham replied: "Not a thread nor a shoe-strap, nor shall I take anything that is yours; lest you say: 'It was I who made Avrohom rich."

The Gemoroh tells us that "as a reward for Abraham's statement, 'Not a thread nor a shoe-strap,' his children merited two mitzvot: the thread of blue [in the tzitzit] and the strap of the tefillin."

The Gemorah further teaches that our three avos instituted the three daily prayers; Avrohom was the first to pray Shacharis, Yitzchok established Mincha, and Yaakov originated the practice of Maariv.

This is one of the reasons why the tallis is worn exclusively during the Shacharis. Since we were given the mitzvah of tzitzit in Avrohom's merit, we wear the tallis specifically for "his" prayer--Shacharis.

I don't think it's 2 ways to be mekayem the mitzvah - it's one and the same mitzvah -- you need to put strings on your four-cornered garment. It's not like you have a choice which one to do.

Thanx nicly said but still leaves room as of why a shliach tzibbur wears a tallis?
Reb Z. Th question is why is it that the mitzva manifests itself in two ways.

the reason why we wear tzitis is to remind us of all the mitzvos. the question is why we would need an additional and larger reminder during davening. perhaps the reason is to show us that even during davening when we are talking to Hashem we need the extra reminder who we are talking to and what we are saying?
